Daniel Wyke part 13

The city of Meaton, which earned it’s place as the state capital, is usually quite bustling with all sorts of business and entertainment. It’s an expensive, extravagant city with busy days and and even busier night life. People often set out to Meaton to make their mark in the “New Country”. But since the city is crowded enough as it is, they’re often met with disappointment and the apathy to leave.

Daniel learned quickly the difficulty of this city the moment he set foot into it’s perimeter. Largely ignored as crowds of people from all directions had something to do and somewhere to be. But Daniel knew that his time in the city was going to be limited, and the act of getting home was far more important to him even though a part of him wanted to shout for some sympathy over the recent events of having a run-in by an enormous jackal. Daniel Wyke Part 12

Though he witnessed the large beast plummet into the trees below, he wanted to get as far away from the scene as possible. What little adrenaline he had left was used to limp his way out of the forest, wherever that may be.

He had no map or compass, but he had an instinct or a feeling that he was headed in the right direction. Perhaps he felt this way because of how calm and inviting the forest started to feel. The trail that he found would be any indication that something had to be nearby.

Though it looked as if it hadn’t been traveled on for decades.

But there was something else drawing him in. A sound or a song of some sort, guiding his path. It was something he could only hear if he continued to move down the trail. It twisted and turned in every which way, but the song only beckoned for him to continue forward. Continue reading →

Daniel Wyke Part 11

“I… I’ve read of you, beast. I know what you do.” spoke Daniel, as he scrambled to lift himself, keeping his eyes focused on the monster, as it’s mouth drew closer to his face.

The Dosjetka snorted, and smirked, “Read of me? Am I that poplar?” Noticing Daniel trying to get up, it pressed it’s right paw against his chest, pushing him back down to the floor.

“There’s no need to lumber off, is there? Not many people come out of the woodwork, so I’m pine-ing for attention.” The beast’s heavy paw made it hard for Daniel to breathe, but did his best to hold composure in front of the beast. Continue reading →

Wyke Notes

I bought a journal a week before I started writing Daniel Wyke. It’s main purpose was to jot down all of the ideas/topics for the idealoclast website as a whole. (Things to research, opinions to elaborate on and such.) 

I’m about 40 pages in to the thing, and I got a kick out of all the notes I had written down (and doodles that have been had.)  So as a nice little interlude for all of this stuff, I decided to share. here are 5 pages from the book that touches up on the process of it.

If you can tell, there’s a lot of thing that stuck and there’s a couple of things that were subject to change. Imagine how things could have been differently, huh?

Daniel Wyke part 10

Daniel stood shin deep in the ocean for the next little while trying to grab his food. With no net or means of capturing, he was attempting to catch minnows with his bare hands. With hunger on his mind, he was willing to keep attempting to catch them, but there was nothing else around the area, and he was not quite ready to get lost in the forest.

But if he waited long enough, and considering the season, something would eventually come to him.

Daniel actually washed ashore next to the Tenuni forest, known to be in the northernmost part of the state. Deep within the forest is a lake that inhabits a whole assortment of wildlife. One in particular is the Obsidian trout. On it’s own, the trout is usually quite disgusting but it became a real delicacy amongst Northern Americans. They have become the most expensive fish on the market due to a very specific time of the year, and are fished only in this one particular spot. Continue reading →

Daniel Wyke part 9

Dreams come in many forms. Depending on the day you had, or the food you’ve eaten, something manifests in your subconscious the moment you go to sleep. The purpose of a dream is not completely understood, but many people have been trying to rationalize why they exist for many years.

What most people don’t understand though, is the off-chance that the subconscious is not really dreaming, but escaping the known reality to another plane of existence. A different reality, space or time, that is usually achieved by coma patients or those with an extreme amount of over-exhaustion, anxiety or a trigger effect from trauma.

Most like to believe that when these moments happen, they are actually a Deus Ex Machina filled with the answers they need. They wake up changing their behavior, believing that they have to fulfill a sudden prophecy. What they experience becomes so real, that the moment they wake up, it’s all they want to believe. Daniel Wyke part 8

Daniel caught on quickly to being helpful around the ship. Like an obedient dog he helped cook and clean when it was needed. Stocked up supplies and learned he was around the ship. Though he was accused of being a yes man all his life, his diligence to be part of the crew was due to an extraordinary thirst for knowledge.

The crew itself seemed intimidating at first, but once Daniel was brought into the circle, he’s learned that their hard exteriors were actually quite thin.

Kale, being the eccentric pirate that he was, never looked to build a crew of delinquents. He was much rather interested in personal tastes and interests. Did a pirate like stories more than rum? Would they have taken painting and music over a whore house? Chances are the unlikely answer would be found on this boat. Continue reading →

No Unity

I suppose I’m in the same boat as a lot of people, with the news Ubisoft couldn’t add a female assassin to the game to the the amount of extra production work that would happen.

It’s baffling considering that they’ve had a female assassin before in the video game, Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation. Then again Animator Jonathan Cooper shed light on the fact that even see was cheated. Explaining that, as they were making Liberation along side AC3, a bunch of Aveline de Grandpré’s animation was borrowed from Connor.  Continue reading →

Daniel Wyke part 7

The pirate queen of five different seas. Malenka St. Clair is an enigma, compared to other pirate captains. While most take to the ocean so they can live by a code of unruly behaviour, Malenka chose a life on the ocean to get away from her own.

Born Malenka Oberst to a poor family, in a time where great economic problems befell the country. Though the husband and wife were proud of their newborn daughter, they knew they could not support her. Within weeks of her birth they put her up for sale, hoping that she would be granted a better life and anyone looking for a child would make a generous offer. Continue reading →

Daniel Wyke Part 6

The first noise to come out of Daniel upon awakening wasn’t an exclamation, but a whimper. The stressful moan of a man coming-to, exhausted from his lungs. From a pitch black cavern, to a well lit room, his eyes were certainly taking time to adjust.

He doesn’t remember being knocked unconscious, but he definitely felt the pain from it. His instinct to rub the back of his head was halted, as his wrists felt tightened when trying to move them. They were strapped to the chair upon which he was placed. Even though the seat was rather comfortable, the situation was was pretty alarming, considering a moment ago he was hiding behind a bunch of rock.

“What’s the worry boy?” spoke the loud voice of a woman. He winced a little, not quite adjusted or ready to hear anything. She sat at the other end of the table in front of him, quill in hand. Not looking at him, but giving him enough attention so he knows he’s not alone in the room. Continue reading →
